Under the rain

Este es el dibujo original que hice para un concurso organizado por Fontvella (una marca de agua) para hacer una edición especial de sus botellas. El briefing era sobre el concepto “sed de vivir”. En mi diseño los personajes se llenan del agua de la lluvia.

This is the original drawing for a design I made for a contest organized by Fontvella (a water Brand) to made a special edition of their bottles. The briefing was about the concept “life thirst”. In my design character are being filled with the rain. 

Warrior

Esta guerrera está compuesta de cartón, madera, piedras, troncos y algas encontradas en la playa (usadas en el pelo). También di algunos toques de color sobre la madera y el cartón con acrílicos y lápices de colores.

This warrior is made of cardboard, wood, stones, trunks and seaweed found in the beach (used for the hair). I also used some acrylic painting and colour pencils. 

Green Riding Hood

La Caperucita Verde es la prima inteligente de la Caperucita Roja. Ella sabe que si vas a adentrarte en un bosque, donde viven lobos hambrientos, es mejor pasar desapercibida. Quizás no escribirán cuentos sobre ella, pero seguro tendrá una vida más larga y agradable.

Green Riding Hood is the smart cousin of Red Riding Hood. She knows that if you are going deep into a forest, where starving wolves live, it’s better to go unnoticed. Maybe they won’t write tales about her, but sure she’ll have a longer and pleasant life.

Dos Muertos y Pico

¿Todavía no sabéis que vais a pedirles a los Reyes Magos? Os recomiendo “Dos Muertos y Pico” de José Ramón García Moreno (Editorial Bruño), una novela para todos los públicos que os atrapará con sus personajes tiernos y su intrigante historia.

Are you still unsure what you are going to ask Santa for? Are you studying Spanish and willing to learn more about Spanish culture and life in high schools? Then I would recommend you “Dos Muertos y Pico” by José Ramón García Moreno (Editorial Bruño), a novel for all ages that will amuse you with its tender characters and intriguing story.

¡Mi primera exposición!

El 16 de noviembre inauguré mi primera exposición en “Cal Cabaler”, la casa de cultura de Creixell. Se expone una colección de gravados acompañados de rimas, además de unas cuantas acuarelas. Si estáis por la zona no dudéis en hacerle una visita :)

Last 16 of November I opened my first exhibition in “Cal Cavaler”, Creixell. I presented a series of engravings together with short rimes, and some watercolours. 

Matar dos pájaros de un tiro

 

 


Este es el primer ejercicio que he hecho para mi posgrado de ilustración. 
Teníamos que crear una imagen para la frase “matar dos pájaros de un tiro”. Después de hacer nuestra primera imagen con la técnica que nos resultara más cómoda (en mi caso acuarela), teníamos que crear dos propuestas con papel recortado y otra en esgrafiado. 
El objetivo del ejercicio era no quedarse con la primera solución, sino probar distintos modos de trabajar que por sí solos o combinados dieran la solución más atractiva.

This is the first exercise I’ve done for my illustration course. 

We had to create an image for the set phrase “kill two birds with one stone” (which in Spanish is “kill two birds with one shot”). After doing our first image with the technique we felt more comfortable with (in my case watercolours), we had to create two proposals with cut paper and another with sgrafitto. 

The objective of the exercise was not keeping the first solution but trying different ways of working that, either on their own or combined, provided the more attractive solution.

Este dibujo es una versión de un trabajo digital que hice para un cuento.

This watercolour it’s a version of a digital work I did for a children book.

Under the rain

Este pobre monstruo se está mojando porque nadie pensó en hacer un paraguas lo bastante grande para él. Todo el mundo asume que a los monstruos no les importa andar bajo la lluvia. ¡Se ve obligado a salir a la calle en bañador!

This poor monster it’s getting all wet because nobody thought about making an umbrella big enough for him. Everybody just assumes that monsters don’t mind walking under rain. He is forced to go out wearing a swimming trunk!

Music

Some of you might already know that I like to draw quiet and peaceful moments. In this sense this little watercolour recalls “wondering” or “Read”.
I've finished the piece with colour pencils.

Como algunos ya sabréis, me gusta dibujar momentos de tranquilidad e intimidad. En este sentido esta pequeña acuarela recuerda a “wondering” o “Read”. 

Termine la acuarela con lápices de colores.

Wondering

With this watercolour I was trying to capture a quiet and peaceful moment in contact with nature, letting the mind freely wandering in thoughts.

Con esta acuarela intentaba plasmar un momento de tranquilidad en contacto con la naturaleza, dejando que la mente vuele libre.  

Good friends

The monster and the girl are really good friends. They love and understand each other. They like seating in the docks and talk until it gets dark and the stars start to shine.

El monstruo y la niña son muy amigos. Se quieren y se comprenden. Les gusta sentarse a hablar en el muelle hasta que oscurece y las estrellas empiezan a brillar.

Day off in the Zoo

I did this painting with watercolours, but the result wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. The background was white and it was quite dull. I felt like trying something different and though about doing it again in digital tools. This is the result.

Hice una acuarela de este dibujo, pero el resultado no era exactamente lo que buscaba, el fondo era blanco y quedó bastante apagado. Me apetecía probar algo distinto y pensé en repetirlo en digital. Este es el resultado.

The fisherman

Last semester I made a sketch for an engraving, in which a pirate was fishing at the deck when he received a lightning discharge. The other day I found the sketch and I used it as a starting point for this watercolour with collage. It was a quick and funny exercise. I hope you find it refreshing!

El semestre pasado hice un boceto para un grabado, en que un pirata pescando en cubierta recibía la descarga de un rayo. El otro día encontré el boceto y lo utilice como base para hacer esta acuarela con collage. Fue un ejercicio rápido y divertido. ¡Espero que os resulte refrescante!
